New Orleans: Saenger Theater
The classical garden that surrounds the proscenium of this 68-year-old, 2,800-seat Florentine Renaissance autitorum is strictly a stage set, though the 778-pipe Robert Morton Wonder organ is fully operational. Once a great movie house, the still-glorious Saenger now welcomes toruing shows, concert artists, and dance companies. Visitors can see the cloud machine works and how starts dot the ceiling. 143 N.
